Monarch proved he could "rule supreme" during his brief conformation show career by defeating 174 dogs in his first 6 months of showing to become NORCAL's Top Male Show Puppy in 2000.  His first day in competition in conformation at 6 months old resulted in Best of Breed Puppy with Puppy Sporting Group 3.  He repeated this win and placement 4 months later.  Monarch had a distinct ring presence and his regal bearing caught the judges' attention whenever he entered the ring. Monarch was awarded Best of Breed from the classes over 3 specials at Gold Country Kennel Club in 2002 .

Monarch is living the good life with his best friends Bob and Jamie. Monarch is a consummate lover with a wicked sense of humor and a keen intelligence that shines through large dark brown eyes. He is convinced he rules the world and does not understand why everyone isn't spending all their time paying homage to and petting only him. When he goes to the dog park, he insists that every person there say hello to him and he will bark at them until they greet him properly.

Monarch loves to swim and gets to play in the ocean or on the river several times a week. Meanwhile, Bob and Jamie adore him and when they aren't spoiling him, they treat him like the king Monarch believes himself to be.

I purchased Monarch from another breeder who covered up many of the diseases that existed in the lines she was using in her breeding program.  She lied about the health problems that were rampant in this pedigree.  While Monarch has always been healthy and obtained CERF, hips, elbows, heart, and thyroid clearances, I discovered numerous cases of hip and elbow displasia, SAS heart problems, allergies, and gay tails affecting too many of his close relatives. The probability that he would pass on any or all of these problems to his offspring convinced me to retire Monarch along with another dog from similar lines from competition and to make sure that neither dog would ever be bred.  I never used any of this breeder's lines in my breeding program. Today, I am working with totally different pedigrees that have proven to be significantly healthier.
